BRAZIL

The Pan American Development Foundation, has maintained a steady presence in Brazil. During its first two decades, it sent medical supplies and supported health programs that benefited nearly 200,000 people. Since then, PADF has expanded its work to emergency relief and environmental protection.

After the January 2011 floods in Rio de Janeiro, PADF mobilized resources with corporate partners to assist affected communities. On the environmental front, it backed community‑based ecotourism projects in Guaraqueçaba (Paraná) and, in 2012, launched the Biodiversity Condominium program in Campo Largo. This initiative engages schoolchildren and local landowners to conserve remnants of the Atlantic Forest and plant native species.

Although PADF has run technical‑training initiatives in other countries, recent sources indicate that in Brazil its efforts have focused mainly on disaster response and environmental conservation rather than on specific STEM education or vocational training projects.
